Purpose
• Improve affordability and nutritional quality of food distributed by LOCAL food pantries.
• Develop more efficient systems for food collection and distribution to meet the increasing number of families experiencing hunger.
The Healthy Harvest Network is a group of food pantries taking the lead to improve the affordability and nutritional quality of the food we distribute in southern Vermont.
We are serving our neighbors who are struggling to obtain healthy affordable food by procuring (through gleaning, donations, and purchasing) fresh produce which we lightly process and freeze for winter months when fresh food is not readily available.
We are developing more efficient distribution systems that help us meet the increasing need in the communities within the Holt Catchment and surrounding area (southern Vermont). We are seeking partnerships with other groups with similar missions of healthy food distribution.
The Fanny Holt Ames and Edna Louise Holt Fund is supporting this work through a 2-year grant.
